Overview

Hubert Beck followed the prescribed (at that time) path of education that led him to attend and graduate from Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, in 1956. He was ordained into the ministry of the Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod in the same year and served as a pastor to parishes in central and northern Illinois before becoming the Lutheran Campus Pastor at Texas A&M University. He served there for over sixteen years before accepting the position of the Lutheran Campus Pastor at Duke University and North Carolina Central University in Durham, North Carolina before retiring in 1996. He has published books and articles of various sorts throughout his ministry. He served as the co-editor of the Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod's Campus Ministry publication known as Interconnections for many years. He considers the highest honor bestowed upon him to have been in the form of the Joseph Sittler Communication Award granted to him by the national Lutheran Campus Ministry Association. Following his retirement in 1996, he moved to Austin, TX, which is where he continues to live.   Mr. Beck has authorized a number of tracts, articles, pamphlets, booklets, Bible studies, devotions, and other literature, in addition to the following books: - The Christian Encounters: The Age of Technology (CPH) - How to Respond to Cults (CPH) - The Way of God and the Ways of Man (CSS) - Thoughts for Today (CSS) - Why Can't the Church Be Like This?
